National Stand Tall Week
Long Tall Sally (a retailerĀ of tall clothing for women) have announced their ”Natonal Stand Tall Week” for 2010. It’’s this week by the way.
Heard about it? Didn”t think so.
It’s more than a little contrived for a single retailer to declare it’’s own ”national” week. It would be like HSBC saying it would hold it’’s own ”national bank holiday”, just a bit pointless really.
So, yes, it’’s a publicity move and may drive a few more sales for LTS. Realistically, I think they”ve done a great job of moving tall clothing into the mainstream. If it wasn”t for shops like LTS then New Look, Topshop etc wouldn”t have their in-branch tall sections.
The question now is: what about men? How many times have you walked into the ‘tall’ department in topman, or the extra tall section in gap? The answer is never, because they don’t exist.
The best we can do is go to the specialists, I have a list of the best, but there’’s still more to do. How long will it be before we see a 38″ inside leg pair of jeans on a high street store? Hopefully not long.
Stand tall. But not because Long Tall Sally tell you to.
